Cartagena is located in the province of Murcia in the south of Spain. The city has traditionally been an important trading center and therefore has two defensive forts on the inlet of the city's harbor. It is also the important naval port of Spain. The city has many historical monuments, such as a Roman Amphitheater, and several castles and museums.
The city of Cartagena city and shopping centre is reachable by car just a 15-minute drive from Santa Rosalia Lake and Life Resort.

A Roman castle ruin worth seeing can be found in Cerro de la Concepción, known to people from Cartagena as the "Castillo de los Patos". The castle is located on one of the five hills of the city with a beautiful view of the surroundings.The castle is also accessible by elevator and dogs are allowed.
Everywhere in Cartagena you will find remains of Roman times. The Roman Amphitheater in the city in particular is definitely worth a visit.
